A few quick updates
Hey all, I wasn't planning to do a newsletter this week, but I wanted to pass along a couple of quick things:
- The White Lake Community Garden would love your support at the Whitehall City Council Meeting on Tuesday @6pm. They'll be giving the council their year end report, and it'll be a great opportunity to see everything they were able to accomplish in their very first year.
- Now is the perfect time to identify any maples near your house that might be good for tapping. They're the ones turning amazing colors right now. If you think you might be interested in tapping for syrup eventually, go tie a (loose) ribbon around the trunks of your maples while they're easy to spot. That way you can watch them through the seasons and get to know them better before it's time to tap. (Tapping happens in the spring before the leaves came out, and it's the hardest time of year to ID a tree.)
- I ran across a really cute little play-to-learn game that I wanted to share. It takes about 30 minutes to play, and it teaches you about trust from a math/game theory/evolutionary perspective.
Big thanks to everyone who's helped Nate's parents feel welcome this week! They've really enjoyed their visit so far. I'll be back next week with a normal-length newsletter.
